💬 How Do Direct Messages Work on KNKY?

Want to send a message to a creator? KNKY offers a flexible Direct Messaging system, but access to chat depends on how the creator has set things up on their account or channels.

Here’s everything you need to know before you slide into their inbox:

✉️ Who Can Message Creators?

Creators can allow messaging in several ways:

1. Free Chat Access

Some creators enable messaging for all users - no subscription required. You’ll see the Chat button right on their profile.

2. Free Channel Chat

If the creator has a free channel, subscribing to it may unlock access to message them.

3. Paid Channel Access

Other creators may only allow chat inside a paid channel. To message them, you'll need to:

• Check the included perks to confirm that chat is one of them
• Subscribe to the channel

4. Messaging as a Service

Some creators offer access to chat as a paid Service on their profile. You can purchase this one-time or ongoing option through the Services section.

🔍 How to Know If Chat Is Available

To see if you can message a creator:

• Go to their profile
• Look for the Chat icon (next to Follow)
• Tap it and try to send a message

If chat is locked, you’ll be prompted to subscribe or purchase the service that unlocks it.

💬 Where to Find All Your Chats

Tap the Chat icon:

• On mobile: bottom menu bar
• On desktop: header

In the Chat section, you'll see four tabs:

• All – every chat you've started
• Subscribed – chats with creators you’re subscribed to
• Followed – chats with creators you follow
• Matches – chats started via the MatchMaker feature

You can also use the Search bar at the top to find a specific creator by name.

🧭 Inside the Chat Interface

When you open a chat, here’s what you’ll see:

• Top Bar:
  • Creator’s avatar → Tap to open their profile
  • 💰 Tip icon → Send a tip directly
  • ⋯ Three-dot menu → Report, block creator, or delete the chat
• Main Chat Window:
  • Full chat history
  • Shared media and links
• Bottom Bar:
  1. 📎 Attach media – Send images or videos
  2. 🛎️ Services icon – Tap to view available services
     • A pop-up will show services available for purchase directly from the creator’s profile or services already included in your subscription
  3. 📝 Message field – Type your message
  4. ➤ Send button – Send your message

💡 Pro Tip: Interact With Messages Directly

If you tap or right-click (on desktop) on any message in the chat, a menu will appear with these options:

• Reply – Respond directly to a specific message
• Forward – Send it to another chat
• Delete – Choose to remove the message for:
  • You only
  • Or for both you and the creator
